Photographic Shadow Drawing

In the past few years, walking the woods with camera and sketchbook has developed into an intentional collaboration between the two. I accidentally found how shadows falling on a sketchbook page created another dialogue within the photo composition.

This quickly led to carrying along a full sheet of drawing paper on my walks.  The shadows falling onto paper create new relationships with the surrounding plants, trees, etc. The results are both unexpected and enlivening. Eventually, as I discover more about them, they will find their place within a larger series of work.
